Sister Moon Gardens is having another class. This time its out in the garden instead of the kitchen. If you are like me, your hands are starting to itch to get into the ground and plant! Right now is the time to start planning your garden, get those seeds if you are starting your own plants, maybe do a soil test on your garden plot to see what might be missing or in excess and tap in to the resources of your community to create the best garden ever.

I will be sharing my organic food gardening techniques at the farm on SATURDAY, APRIL 4, 2020 from NOON-2 PM FOR $25/person. It will be a bit soon to hand out plant starts, but every attendee will receive a coupon for 3 free starts from my Estacada Farmer’s Market booth starting May 2020.

The class will go over:

• Garden site assessment

• Soil testing

• Amendment use

• Water source and irrigation

• Seed/plant selection

• Bed prep, planting and maintenance

• Crop rotation

• Harvest

• Composting

I will be sharing a resource list I’ve begun since coming back to the area. It will include my go to places for supplies, plants/seeds, soil testing and amendments. Plus, there are some wonderful agencies out there set up to support land owners developing their land with conservation in mind which will be on my resource list.

Sister Moon Gardens and Lisa Fuller are hosting a sauerkraut making class in the new Farm Kitchen on Sunday, September 8th from 1 pm - 4 pm. Our new crop of cabbages are just hankering to become this magical concoction and I’ll walk you through the entire process, step by step. While I’m describing the steps, you will be doing them with the tools and supplies provided. Expect to finish the class with your very own quart of hand-made fermented cabbage, as well as instructions on how to ferment other vegetables at home.

Join me as we unlock the mysteries of this time-honored process of preserving our food and increasing its nutritional value.

Cost: $25 and includes supplies, tools, personal instruction and a jar of sauerkraut with post-class support resources. Payment is by cash only, paid at the beginning of class.
